Card & Sticker Designs for MantraBand

I got to work with MantraBand for 6 months for their Mantra of the Month Subscription Boxes’ stickers and card design inserts! MantraBand is a California-based jewellery brand, where they create elegant bracelets with uplifting messages for daily affirmation and optimism. They run a monthly subscription box which includes a bracelet, inspirational card and 2 stickers. I love how their messaging and products are mental health and empowerment-centric - this aligns with my personal values perfectly, so I was excited to get started on this project.
January 2021’s Mantra of the Month: Stay Motivated
To kickstart 2021, MantraBand collaborated with American Actress, Emmy Nominated Host & Philanthropist, Monique Coleman, on the theme of motivation.
In Monique’s words for the New Year:
“Getting motivated is easy.
Staying motivated is hard.
Wear this bracelet as a reminder that
you get out of life what you’re willing to put in.
So, put in the work! Conquer your fears.
Push past distractions. Keep going & follow through.
Inspiration will get you started,
but motivation will get you to finish!

Sticker Design 1
The Client provided Monique’s message for the new year as reference, which I’ve used as inspiration to guide my illustration process across all designs.

Just like how flowers grow from seeds, starting small and ultimately, blooming beautifully over time despite the storms – us too, can experience this beautiful process of becoming, no matter how tough it gets. In this light, I drew a floral arrangement in entanglement - akin to life struggles and obstacles along the way, yet finally soaring and rising into full blooms, triumphant and beautiful - similar to how growth occurs through persistence.

Here, I’ve illustrated a triumphant fist pump, as a symbol of harnessing your inner power and sense of purpose to trudge through life’s difficulties and challenges.
For this sticker design, I provided 2 colour options: 1 warm and vibrant, 1 cool-toned.
The Client preferred the warm-toned option. Thereafter, we went through more colour revisions in search of a skin-colour neutral option and ultimately figured that "no colour" fits more appropriately so I changed it to a mid-tone grey.

“Keep Going & Follow through” – Monique
For the card design, I illustrated a hiker making the arduous journey down a long-winding path heading towards higher skies and mountains as the sun sets. To emphasize that it’s a journey, one step at a time.
