Calligraphy, Hand Lettering, iPad Procreate Workshops & Mural Co-Creation Installation

Creating art has always made me feel good and happy - and to be able to share the craft with these special needs children, hoping that art can serve them the same, makes everything even more meaningful and worthwhile.

Huge thanks to Club Rainbow for partnering with me for 2018's Dreamseeds Arts Fest! Again in 2019’s Dreamseeds Arts Fest on a totally different genre - through a series of digital Hand Lettering workshops using the iPad and drawing app, Procreate. Likewise in 2021 with calligraphy workshops!

Mural Co-Creation Installation in 2022

Club Rainbow had just opened their new CRS Sandbox in 2022 and wanted to beautify their fresh walls. So, they brought me on board to lead a mural co-creation installation project with 4 talented youths: Shaista, Liyana, Kaiesya and Li Li. 

Over 6 curated workshop sessions, we covered everything from brush calligraphy to hand lettering to digitisation using Procreate App on the iPad. 

All 4 girls are amazing! They did so well learning everything I taught, putting the skills into practice, ideating on each letterform and digitising their sketches. Each of the youths was tasked to draw 6-7 alphabets each, and of course, I had to ask them to make each letter different and unique! We looked at different typographic styles, embellishment and stylisation techniques. We even played with colour!

After all their hard work, I did the easy part: taking their digital drawings and arranging them into Club Rainbow’s various value words such as Courage, Resilience, Sense of Belonging, Creativity and more. Each word was then printed into large wall vinyls, transforming their activity spaces into inspiring works of art! 

Creating art has always been my go-to feel-good activity. But being able to share my craft with these talented youths, hoping that art can serve them the same AND seeing them passing it on to beautify the spaces for their community is truly priceless!
